HELP DESK - INFORMACION

Protecting and restarting Livelihoods in response to the covid19 pandemic

Contact address: livelihoods@cruzroja.es

Rationale

  • The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting and destroying the livelihoods of individuals and communities across the world. The loss of work due to business closure, enforced isolation or social distancing in addition to illness and death, will affect all. Those experiencing the greatest impact will be the disaster affected, the poorest and other vulnerable groups, already disadvantaged economically and most exposed, lacking access to their basic needs.
  • To ensure continuity of guidance and support to National Societies, the Livelihoods Resource Centre (LRC) and British Red Cross (BRC) will establish a remote online technical Livelihoods Help Desk.
  • The Help Desk will offer specific livelihoods information and guidance incorporating the threat and impact of COVID-19 to National Societies, IFRC and ICRC.

Objectives

  • Provide remote technical support to livelihoods and food security programmes currently implemented by National Societies and the IFRC and ICRC
  • Development of analysis and guidance documents to support decision making
  • Provide a platform for exchange of experience and technical information, recommendations and guidance on good practice and lessons learnt in protecting and restarting livelihoods as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves
  • Support practitioners on advocating livelihoods actions in the COVID-19 crisis

Services provided

  • Remote technical guidance  provided by specialised FSL advisors  from LRC and BRC
  • Support on specific programme measures and adjustments to promote continuity or new livelihoods and food security programmes to be implemented by Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Remote technical review of FSL project documentation (assessments, response option analysis, delivery options, log frames and plans of action, and appropriate monitoring systems)
  • Working languages will be English, Spanish and French
