The Volunteering Alliance is one of the most important initiatives in recent years aimed at bringing together National Societies from all over the world to support each other in developing volunteering. Currently, 74 National Societies are part of the Volunteering Alliance.
The Volunteering Alliance aims at improving the leadership and management skills of National Society volunteering leads to promote sustainable changes in volunteering development.
This year, in these exceptional times, we take the opportunity to come together in a virtual gathering to share our experiences, challenges and solutions. We will also take a look at the future of the Volunteering Alliance and co-develop a new global volunteering policy over an interactive and inspiring few days, involving both National Societies volunteering focal points and volunteers.
Session#01. Background: the future of volunteering in the Red Cross Red Crescent
This session aims to highlight the challenges that National Societies are facing in the area of volunteering development and how these could be confronted, including a view on how volunteering is also changing outside the movement.
Session#02. Showcasing the progresses undertaken by the technical teams and obtaining feedback
This session will be an opportunity to look at and discuss key aspects developed by the technical teams in recent times.
Session#03. The Volunteering Alliance: designing its future
This session will enable the volunteering focal points to discuss and plan a future Volunteering Alliance roadmap and the expected outcomes.
Sessions#04 and #05. Co-developing the future IFRC volunteering policy
These sessions aim to obtain relevant input to design and build the future volunteering policy as well as to review the existing one. Session 04 will be with volunteers and session 05 with volunteering focal points.
The online Volunteering Alliance meeting 2020 will be the perfect opportunity to:
-
Share and reflect on the progress made by the Alliance technical teams in the past two years, since its last meeting in 2018.
-
Obtain feedback and compare experiences and key aspects developed by the technical teams.
-
Plan for the future of the Volunteering Alliance
-
Determine how the future IFRC volunteering policy should look like by including the contribution of volunteers and National Society volunteering focal points.
-
Engage and involve National Societies that are part of the Volunteering Alliance, to discuss issues of concern and to learn from one another.
This virtual meeting is specifically aimed at two target groups:
-
