The Centre for the Cooperation in the Mediterranean operates within the framework of the commitments adopted at the Mediterranean Conferences of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and in line with the IFRC 2030 strategy. 

It seeks to mobilise skills, knowledge, experience and initiatives to better respond to common challenges and to promote diversity and dialogue in the Mediterranean region; the National Societies being the main actors.
