Climate Change and Environment
The climate and environmental crisis is one of the RC/MLR Movement's five global challenges for the next decade, as outlined in its new 2030 Strategy A challenge of vital importance for the Mediterranean basin, being one of the regions most affected by its impacts.
CWB - Cambio Climático y Medio Ambiente
It is one of the focus areas for the Mediterranean National Societies which are multiplying their actions to reduce the impacts of the crises and maximize the environmental sustainability of their work.
The Centre for the Cooperation in the Mediterranean supports National Societies to increase capacity to understand climate and environmental risks and opportunities and mobilize positive action on the climate crisis, to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and compensate their footprint.

Main activities
Reduction: A pedagogical carbon footprint calculator
Within the framework of promoting actions to mitigate climate change and reduce our environmental impact, a pedagogical tool has been developed to calculate the carbon footprint. The tool is part of an educational project with the following objectives:
-
To promote a greater and better understanding of the organizational footprint
-
To provide an estimated measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of Mediterranean National Societies - both at local and national level - to reflect on the points where to act, contributing to decision-making on sustainable practices and reduction and compensation strategies: “What is not calculated does not exist”
-
To raise awareness among volunteers and staff on the direct and indirect emissions they generate and promote environmental awareness and responsibility.
